As I read an article in today's Sydney Morning Herald, I heard a voice inside me that sounded very much like Marlon Brando.
"I cudda been a contender".
The winner of the "Australia's Best Blog" competition has been announced, with the winner receiving a prize of $10,000. OK, I cuddn't really have been a contender but I did find the decision interesting.
The winning blog is Singing Bridges and is quite unique. Quote from the blog:
"Singing bridges" is a sonic sculpture, playing the cables of stay-cabled and suspension bridges as musical instruments. To create this work I will amplify and record the sound of bridge cables around the world. Listening in to the secret voice of bridges as the inaudible vibrations in the cables are translated into sound".
I do not have the skill or expertise to write a review of the blog, so unlike those on the blogosphere whose perception of their ability as self-appointed blog reviewers, far exceeds the reality, I will refrain from doing so.
Except to say...
..I loved the blog and I loved the concept. But is any blog worth $10,000?
The story behind the judging is fascinating and can be read here. The article is written by Charles Wright (Sydney Morning Herald) and is called "The best Australian blog?"
Wherever you may be - be safe!
