Roman Catholic relief organisation, Caritas, has said that Tanzania faces serious food shortages over the next several months.
A statement issued by the NGO said: "Insufficient rainfall has resulted in poor yields in many parts of the country...crop failure was registered at about 80 percent in the districts of Ngorongoro and Karatu (northern Uganda)."
It has launched an appeal for nearly US $800,000 to provide food aid to 251,767 people as well as seeds to some 5,000 households.
It looks like Tanzania will be the next, "Fashionable Cause Of The Month," attracting global media attention for a few weeks before disappearing from our newspapers, TV screens - and minds.
