Nuclear Energy: Ukraine and U.S. company to develop spent nuclear fuel storage facility

The Ukraine, has signed a contract with a U.S. company Holtec International, for the development of a storage facility for spent nuclear fuel. Energoatom, the state-run company responsible for managing the country's four nuclear power plants said that the deal is worth $152 million.

Work on the project is expected to start next year and will see nuclear fuel rods from Ukrainian nuclear power plants being stored before being sent for reprocessing in Russia.
