Outsourcing: India set to reap $1.7 billion chip design bonanza

NetIndia123 reports that India is set to reap at least $1.7 billion through outsourcing of the chip designs in the global market by 2010 .

This compares to the current $600 million.The article attributes the increase to, "the fast emergence of information technology companies in Tier-2 cities such as Pune, where the outsourced software product development leader Persistent Systems recently acquired Goa-based ControlNet India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Campbell of California, for about $2 million".
