Smuggling: Ivory detectors will aid fight against illegal ivory trade

East African have been given a boost in their efforts to crack down on the illegal trade in elephant ivory.

The Lusaka Agreement Task Force and UN Environment Program, have purchased 15 ivory detectors that have been distributed to the LATF member states: Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Congo Brazzaville. The detectors cost $5,000 each, and can also identify minerals, drugs, explosives, ammunition - and people!
