Mohan Prasad Ghimire, judge of the Pokhara Appellate Court of western Kaski district in Nepal, claims that about 7,000 women are being trafficked from Nepal every year - the majority being sold by their own relatives.
At a conference entitled, "United Nation's Millennium Development Goal for Gender Equality and Women Empowerment," he also claimed that the practice of sending a son in a high quality private school but a daughter to a low quality of government school, is still widespread.
