Agriculture: Chinese company buys sesame from Ethiopia

The Sudan Times, reports that a Chinese company is to buy more than 200,000 quintals of sesame from Ethiopia.

The Chemical Import and Export Companies in Beijing, China, also urged farmers in the Qafta Humera woreda of the Western Tigray Zone, to maintain the organic nature of the produce and "earn substantial hard currency from the export of the produce".

Quintal: The unit was and still is used in the Arab world, where it is known as the qintar. It is currently defined informally as 50 kg. The qintar was imported to Europe by traders.
