Goodnight from Sydney

It seems that every day in this country, someone comes up with a harebrained idea that is guaranteed to have the mass-media-groupies, falling over themselves to agree with the band-wagon starter.

Federal Liberal MP Bronwyn Bishop, who is about as useful as a tit on a bull, wants to make burning the Australian flag illegal. Seizing on the medias determination to maintain the rage following Sydney's recent so-called race riots, she told a Young Liberal convention, "Over the past months we have experienced cultural unrest, in particular in Sydney's southern suburbs and in some instances the violation of the Australian flag has been used as a symbol to denigrate our Australian culture and way of life."

It's a bloody flag for Christ sake. A piece of cloth, with a tacky design made in China, because our overpaid Shirk-Force, is to damn inefficient to make them cost-effectively.

What will be her next idea? Compulsory placing of hand on heart accompanied by a pious, self-righteous, "God Bless Australia" perhaps. After all, her leader Little Jackboot Johnny Howard, does that every morning - except he changes "Australia," to the name of the country whose interests he looks after.

Personally, I can think of more important issues that need to be addressed - hospitals, education, transport - to name but a few.
