Goodnight from Sydney

There is one thing about me - when I get a fixation about something, not only do I stick at it, (until I get bored) but I can guarantee it will be something weird.

At the moment it is taking macro photos of running tap water. Not exactly brilliant, but no doubt when I become rich and famous and the darling of the galleries, this photo of my kitchen tap will be snapped up by a famous art gallery. If I get the right person to become besotted with me, I may even win a prestigious prize!

I have always had a thing about fire and water. When I was 13 year old attending Ogmore Grammar School, in Wales, my mate David and I would go every lunch time to a corner shop in the village and buy a packet of firelighters and a box of Swan matches. I would also buy two cigarettes, (the shop keeper kindly allowed us to buy cigarettes in ones or twos). Off we would go to a nearby derelict mine building and set fire to things, then just sit and watch. Even set fire to a dead sheep once. There was something very spiritual about that, especially as I had one of those portable cassette players and a Jimi Hendrix tape.

I think it must have something to do with curves, twists and turns. Not far from me is a park with a beautiful sculpture. Maybe I should clarify that comment - to me it is beautiful, nobody else likes it. All it is, is a concrete spiral. Simple, but to me very soothing and elegant.Talking about my school days, maybe one day I will tell you about the cross-country race and the bottle of Guinness stuffed down the front of my shorts.

Wherever you may be - be safe!
