International Development: Former Governor of State Bank of Pakistan, claims 6.3 million live in poverty

The former Governor of State Bank of Pakistan, Dr Ishrat Hussain, has claimed that 6.3 million families are living below the poverty lines.

Speaking at a Microfinance Award ceremony, he suggested that loans could be given to 3.2 million families under the central bank's five year program, and that women be given small loans on preferential basis to boost the role they play in national development and prosperity.
