Oil and Gas: Italy asks Russia to increase supplies

Italy has asked Russia to increase gas supplies as the country has been experiencing shortfalls.

Due to severe weather in Russia, Italy has been experiencing a drop in supply prompting Italian Industry Minister Claudio Scajola, to tell Russian Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko, "to pay close attention to fulfilling all contractual obligations to supply gas to Italy."

Gazprom, provides about half the gas consumed in the European Union.
