Major retail outlets in Qatar, have pulled Danish products from their shelves in response a boycott call given by Islamic scholars across the Arab and Muslim world.The popular stores chain, Al Mira, withdrew Danish products from all of its 31 outlets across Qatar, and erected a notice board declaring in Arabic: "No Danish products are on sale at any of our 31 outlets".
The move follows Denmark's silence after the country's largest newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, ran 12 cartoons in September, including one in which the Prophet Mohammed is portrayed wearing a turban shaped in a bomb. Islam considers images of prophets disrespectful and caricatures of them blasphemous.
