Transport: Burundi added to proposed Tanzania-Rwanda rail project

Burundi has been added to a proposed railway connecting Tanzania and Rwanda. The head of communication at the African Development Bank, Eric Chinje, has put forward two alternatives:

* linking Rusumo in Rwanda to Kabanga in Tanzania and Kabanga to Gitega and Bujumbura in Burundi

* linking Rusumo in Rwanda to Kabanga in Tanzania and Kabanga to Muyinga to Ngozi to Bujumbura in Burundi

The ADB is providing $2.6 million for the project.
