Women's Issues: Critics select top 10 movies at Iran's Female Filmmakers Festival

Over fifty Iranian critics have gathered on the Persian Gulf island of Kish, to attend the country's first Female Filmmakers Festival. The critics selected the ten best films based on women's issues produced since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979. The festival is organized by the House of Iranian Women Artists.

The top three films selected by the 52 critics are -

1. Leila (1997)
2. Bashu, the Little Stranger (1987)
3. Gilaneh (2004)

Note: I have seen Bashu; it is one of those movies that once you start watching, there is no way you are going to do anything else until it has finished.
