Women's Issues: Media monitoring group claim 3,000 women and 4,000 children, tortured to death in Bangladesh

According to a report by a local media monitoring group, over 3,000 women and about 4,000 children in Bangladesh, were tortured to death last year.

Mass Line Media Center, say that violence against women included rape, beatings and acid attacks. Many were attacked by spurned lover or unpaid dowries. Many were victims of traffickers. Human rights groups also claim that there is a disturbing trend of women being threatened for not wearing a veil.
