Bilateral Relations: Azerbaijan and Iran look to joint projects

Iran and Azerbaijan, have announced their intention to, "speedily enforce mutual agreements already signed by Iran and Azerbaijan in the field of energy".

At a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Baku Afshar Soleimani, the Azeri Minister of Industry and Energy Aliyev Natiq, highlighted the importance of Iran's energy resources, oil, gas and petrochemicals in particular. He also noted that, "Iran took great steps to respond to the natural gas crisis in Georgia and other regional and European countries by piping them through Azerbaijan."

Ambassador Soleimani, said that The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to launch a number of projects in Azerbaijan such as the plan to put up a Samand automobile assembly line in the near future.
