International Development: EU gives Zimbabwe $19 million for drugs for the poor

The Sunday News, reports that the European Union (EU) is to provide Zimbabwe with $19 million, to buy essential drugs including anti-retroviral drugs for the poor.

A staement by the EU, said that the European Commission and the Government had signed a three-year agreement for a new funded program under the Vital Health Programme in Zimbabwe. The program aims to provide direct humanitarian support to Zimbabwe through the provision of ARVs, vaccines, medical supplies, training for human resources and measures aimed at retaining staff in remote areas.

It will be interesting to see just how much of the money is spent on those aims.
