Welfare: Dubai Police to pay aid to women married to foreigners

Dr Mohammed Al Murr, Director of the Human Rights Department, has announced that.Dubai Police will temporarily provide social aid to national women married to foreigners deserving help. The women are among the 300 women to whom the payments have been stopped since last December. The Dubai Police, in coordination with a government authority, will start disbursing the payments from March.

Checks will be made regarding the social and financial conditions of each of the applicants and only those who are found to be in need will be paid. Dr Mohammed Al Murr, said his department would check with the ministry why payments to these women were stopped.

The Khaleej Times, reports that "last month, about 30 national women complained to Dubai Police Human Rights Department against the ministry which stopped paying them social aid. They sought support from the department after the ministry officials even refused to listen to their complaints."
