Construction: Bahrain ferry disaster has impact on construction of World Trade Centre

Murray & Roberts (M&R), the building, construction and engineering group, has confirmed that the death of seven of its employees in a ferry disaster in Bahrain would lead to delays in the construction of the World Trade Centre in Bahrain.

However, Brian Bruce, M&R's chief executive, said on Friday that these delays would not be meaningful.

Bruce went on to say, "When we lose people in the Middle East, it has an impact. Two things happen. There is the natural trauma on the project. People have lost their mates and we must respect that and there will be a period of mourning. We are also mobilising people to take over the responsibilities of those people who died in the disaster. But the biggest thing is the mourning we have to go through. For 57 people to lose their lives on one site is a lot".
