Goodnight from Sydney

Tonight's photo: Late afternoon in Lane Cove

Apart from having a headache from hell and almost being run over by a fairy, today has been relatively uneventful.

Yes, you did read correctly - run over by a fairy.

Late this afternoon I was crossing a road when a stationery car suddenly decided to pull out from a side street, turn and head in my direction. The driver came to a stop about a yard away from me, which in my opinion, was a yard too bloody close. I turned to give the driver one of my "OK, sunshine, where were you when God gave out brains" looks - and was confronted by - a fairy.

Wearing a flimsy pink dress, a crown made out of tinsel, and white wings, the late 20 something female driver gave me an apologetic look.

Any angry intentions deserted me as I surveyed the driver and the magic wand (complete with star) on the back of the car. For all I knew, she could have been my Fairy Godmother. I may not know too much about such beings, but a little voice told me, "You can tug on Superman's cape, you can spit into the wind, you can pull the mask of the old Lone Ranger - but you don't piss of Fairy Godmothers. True, I have never heard of a Fairy Godmother driving a Toyota Corolla, but I wasn't going to take any chances.

I was grateful that she managed to stop in time - and not just for the sake of my health.

For all I know, she could have fled the scene of the crime. I would have then been left with the unenviable task of describing the driver and the car with a magic wand on the back, to a burly New South Wales copper.

Not only do I like the title, it's one of the best and most innovative blogs I have come across.
