Government: Philippine's Senator wants all candidates for office to have college degree

Philippines: MQ7.Net, reports that Administration Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, has proposed that candidates who do not have a four-year college degree, be barred from running for any elective position.

She announced that she would propose a provision in the amended Constitution that would require all candidates for elective office to earn at least a four-year college degree.

If the Supreme Court allows Charter change, Santiago said she would propose a constitutional provision to raise the standards for elected officials to improve public service.
