Human Resources: Missouri to hold job fair for former prisoners

This is the sort of program I enjoy writing about.

A coalition of Missouri corrections agencies, law enforcement and charitable organizations are holding a "Partnership for Success Career Fair for Ex-Offenders" on May 11. The Missouri Department of Corrections, Missouri Probation and Parole, and the Kansas City Mayor's Office are among the job fair sponsors.

Chi King, who is coordinating the event for the U.S. Probation Office, said "We have some employers signed up, but we could use some more. Some are pretty reluctant. It's kind of a hard sell".

He added that jobs in construction, warehouse work or other types of manual labor often were good matches - and sometimes ex-convicts also make great car salesmen.

St Louis held a similar series of workshops some years back.
At the time of posting, I don not have any contact details but I would imagine the Missouri Probation and Parole office would have details.
