Oil and Gas: Five companies bid for Algerian refinery deal

Dow Jones Newswire, reports that five companies have prequalified to bid in Algeria's $3 billion-4 billion Tiaret refinery deal set to be awarded by the end of July, according to a senior official at Algeria's state oil company Sonatrach (SON.YY).

Companies from China, France, India, Canada and the United Arab Emirates are to submit technical bids April 15 with the winning companies or groups of companies to be announced in July. The companies have not be named.

The refinery deal is part of the Sonatrach's plan to double Algeria's refining capacity from its current level of 22 million tons a year.
