Sport: Start-up patents device to improve athletes performance

The Atlanta Business Chronicle, reports that an Atlanta startup company wants to use new technology and medical knowledge to help athletes perform better.

Dr. Alfred Martin, a family practice physician, and Dan Benardot, a renowned sports nutritionist, have teamed up to launch a company called Calorie & Pulse Technologies LLC.

They have developed a patented technology that can monitor calories burned through simply wearing a watch. By monitoring heart rate, it calculates calories burned and alerts the wearer when it's time to eat or when too much food has been consumed.
