Bilateral Cooperation: Iran keen to help Kenya construct petroleum refinery

A senior Kenyan official said that Iran has agreed to help Kenya construct a new petroleum refinery.

Chairman of the Kenyan Parliament Departmental Committee on Energy and Roads said at a press briefing in Nairobi, that the Iranian government was keen on helping to replace the now obsolete Kenya Petroleum Refinery Limited.

The Standard Web site quoted the chairman as saying, "We had fruitful discussions with the Iranians. They were keen on constructing a new refinery for us. As you know our refinery is obsolete."
