Bilateral Relations: China proposes town twinning with Zimbabwe

A Chinese delegation to Zimbabwe has come up with the idea that the two countries should develop town twinning following the establishment of such connection between Zimbabwe's Mashonaland West Province and northwest China's Gansu Province in 2004.

Wang Yunze, head of the delegation said, "We appreciate the friendship between our two countries. We want to enhance and strengthen the friendship through the local government vehicles. We want to see twinning arrangements between cities, towns and provinces."

He also invited Ignatius Chombo, Zimbabwe's minister of local Government, public works and urban development, to visit China to enhance bilateral cooperation on local government issues.

Such a visit will of course go a long way to solving Zimbabwe's economic problems and will give joy to the thousands of his country men and women who are homeless and starving.

Perhaps he could bring back a few doggy bags with volauvents. and sausages-on-a-stick.
