Construction: Shanghai construction work stops for exams

Shanghai is to ban all-night building work for the next 18 days so that students can revise for exams in peace.

The Shanghai Daily said that from June 7-9 and June 17-18 - construction will be stopped at all sites within 100 metres of an exam hall.

That's the good news. The bad news is that the new rules could be hard to enforce, as many construction firms are closely linked to the city government and their agenda is to make Shanghai a world-class commercial hub in as short a time as possible.
