Small Business: European Investment Bank to aid Kenya's SMEs

The European Investment bank (EIB) has announced it intends to provide commercial banks with new credit lines to fund small and micro enterprises (SMEs) in Kenya.

Camelo Cocuzza, the bank’s regional representative, said the bank would increase funding of SMEs as part of its new strategy. Cocuzza added the bank would also seek to set up a guarantee scheme to help microfinance institutions raise medium-term funds to develop their lending activities for SMEs.
