Advertising: Another tacky ad

P&O Cruises has been forced to apologise for an advertising campaign that featured bikini-clad women with the catchphrase "Seamen wanted".

The advert ran a year after the death of Dianne Brimble. Mrs Brimble was a passenger on board the P&O-owned Pacific Sky in September 2002, when she died from toxic levels of gammahydroxybutyrate, otherwise known as the party drug 'G'. It is also known as a drug used in date rapes.

The ad was in the form of a postcard (click for photo) depicting four women sunbathing on board the ship. Just to make sure the message was clear, the ad also contained the phrase, "More girls. More sun. More fun. There's nothing else a guy needs to know!"

P&0 today said the postcards were "insensitive" and apologised for any offence.
