Economy: Vatican diplomat says wealth should be spread

Vatican diplomat Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, has told the International Labor Organization (ILO) the globalization of the economy should be accompanied by a more equitable distribution of resources.

At the group's 95th session in Geneva, he said that globalization has yielded great economic benefits but have produced "growing disparities between among and within countries."

Despite the growth of the world economy, Archbishop Tomasi said, far too many people remain unable to find decent work, and many more are exploited at substandard wages.

Following the meeting he will head back home to one of the world's finest art collections.
