Film Industry: Chinese piracy costing industry $2.7bn a year

According to the Motion Pictures Association, movie piracy in China is costing the industry $2.7bn a year. The association claims that around 93% of all films bought in China are pirated, and 40% of the losses are accountable to people downloading movies from illegal online sources.

The report suggests that the Chinese film industry was most affected, losing $1.5bn to piracy, while major US film studios accumulated losses of $565m to piracy.
