Tonight's Photo: Oh you pretty things
Last night Australia played their fourth and final match against FIFA, in what used to be a football world cup. A competition that is now accurately described by Grahame L Jones, in the Los Angeles Times.
"It's about making hundreds of millions of dollars in corporate sponsorships and television contracts. Fat cats greasing fat cats. It's not really about sport or sportsmanship. Only the naive believe that."
The corrupt world of the wheelers and dealers who control world football did not want Australia to go through. It was Australia who after years of battling gained a victory over FIFA, and in so doing put a few South American noses out of joint.
In addition, it has been obvious throughout this tournament that the big name teams were to be given every assistance. It was not just Australia who fell victim, other smaller nations did too.
I believe it was one of the Australian coaching staff who said, if FIFA don't want us to play next time, tell us before hand to save us the hurt. When the Spanish referee awarded Italy a dubious penalty in the dying seconds of yesterdays game, the men in suits breathed a sigh of relief.
But don't gloat too much boys -
We'll be back.
Wherever you may be - be safe
