International Development: China world's third largest food donor

According to a U.N. report, China is now the world's third largest food donor with most of its donations going to North Korea.

In 2005 global food aid grew by 10 percent to 8.2 million metric tons - China accounted for more than half of that increase, the UN's World Food Program (WFP) said. Ninety-two percent of the food China donated last year went to North Korea, according to the figures

It was only last year that China stopped receiving international food aid.
