Investment: Japanese industry looks to Vietnam

The Vietnam News Agency reports on growing Japanese investment in Vietnam.

Yesterday the Japanese-owned MTI Vietnam Corporation inaugurated a US$3.3 million children's wear factory at the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) in southern Binh Duong province.

In another move, the Japan-based Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), one of the world's biggest shipping companies, has been licensed to operate in marine transport in Vietnam with an investment capital of $3 million, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

According to the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Vietnam ranked 4th in the list of Japan's overseas investment destination in 2005 after China, India and Thailand.
