Middle East Special: European Union's foreign policy chief calls for cease-fire

AP reports that the European Union's foreign policy chief has called for a cease-fire in the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah. Javier Solana, said the bloodshed could weaken Lebanon's democratically elected government and make the fight against terrorism harder to win.

After meeting Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Solana condemned the Hezbollah cross-border raid on July 12 that led to Israel's offensive in Lebanon, and he urged the guerrillas to immediately release the two soldiers they captured.
