Corruption: Peru's former spy chief sentenced to six years for embezzlement

Peru's jailed former spy chief Vladimiro Montesinos, has been sentenced to six years in prison for defalcating government money to fund former President Alberto Fujimori's re-election campaign in 2000.

The state news agency Andina reported on Saturday that the Superior Court announced Montesinos' sentence late Friday night after he was found guilty of embezzling some $1.2 million from the armed forces to fund the campaign.

He is already serving a 15-year sentence for multiple corruption charges and will serve the new sentence concurrently.
