Goodnight from Sydney

Tonight's photo: "Lights don't grow on trees you know!"

A 21 year old male faced court in Perth today charged with seriously injuring his girlfriend's 14-month-old daughter. He put her in a clothes dryer and turned it on.

Apparently, he was trying to give her a fun time. He left her in the dryer for about two minutes.

The man's lawyer told the court the accused would often give Mia "wizzies", when he would hold her hands and spin her around. when Mia spilt some medicine on her top, he took her into the laundry to dry it.

"All of a sudden he had a thought: she likes wizzies, she would probably like a wizzy in the dryer," his lawyer told the court. "His only thought at that stage was to give the child a fun time." he added. He further said, "He did not think of the ramifications".

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that "Magistrate Richard Bayly said he believed the act had been one of 'unbelievable stupidity', rather than of malice, but may still send him to prison when he sentences him on August 30."

It seems the man likes children.

At the time of the incident he was studying at university...to become a teacher.

Tonight's song snippet is from Tom Waits - "Tango Till They're Sore"

Well you play that tarantella all the hounds will start to roar
The boys all go to hell and then the Cubans hit the floor
They drive along the pipeline, they tango 'til they're sore
They take apart their nightmares and they leave them by the door

Wherever you may be - be safe!
