Industrial Relations: Wildcat strike stops cargo handling at Chittagong

Cargo handling at Chittagong was suspended for 22 hours, from Thursday night to Friday evening, due to a wildcat strike by Bangladesh Master Stevedores Association (BMSA).

However, the Financial Express reports, "the BMSA withdrew its strike and started gang booking from Friday evening following a fruitful meeting with the CPA."

The BMSA called the strike at 10 pm Thursday protesting the use of private trailers inside the port terminal by Saiftech, a local contractor engaged for gantry crane operation by the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA).
