PetroChina Company Limited (PetroChina) has announced that it will purchase 67 percent of interests in PetroKazakhstan (PKZ) from PetroChina's parent company China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). The deal is worth around $2.735 billion.
The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2006.
PetroChina President Jiang Jiemin, said that once the transaction is complete PetroChina will further improve its working interest of reserves and production capacity in Kazakhstan, a strategically important region.
