Saudi Arabia's Labour Minister Ghazi Algosaibi, has told Saudi television station AL Ikhbariya, there was no choice but for the kingdom to start putting millions of women to work.
The station said that "Algosaibi denied reports that the decision to employ women in shops, in the women's section had been cancelled or delayed."
Businesses had been given a year until June to prepare for implementation of a ruling replacing foreign male labour in lingerie stores with Saudi women. However, this was delayed in May as some shop owners said they were unable to comply with the deadline.
