Immigration: 90,000 Nigerians each year apply for U.S. visas

The U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission in Nigeria, Mr. Thomas Furey, has said that every year for the last couple of years, no fewer than 90,000 Nigerians apply for visas to the United States of America.

Although only between 40 and 50 per cent of the number eventually get visas, the country now has approximately one million of its citizens in America, making the U.S. its second largest Diaspora base in the world after the United Kingdom.
