Industrial Disputes: Kashmir grinds to a halt over Pope's remarks

Shops, businesses and most schools closed in Srinagar, Kashmir's main city yesterday in response to a strike call by separatists to protest over comments Pope Benedict made about Islam.

The strike was called by hard-line separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and supported by other separatist groups.

I would quote his statement but it just echoes the same old thing. One gets a little bored with repetitive tirades from either side.
