Security: Azerbaijan's president calls on Muslims to unite against terrorism

Azerbaijan's president has called on the Muslim world to unite its efforts against terrorism.

On the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Washington and New York on September 11, 2001, Ilham Aliyev said, "The Islamic world was accused of the horrible terrorist attack perpetrated five years ago, so we should stand together in the fight against terrorism and unite our efforts against it."

He also said that the Muslim world had condemned the 9/11 terrorist attacks. "Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance...we want to leave in peace and we will achieve it."

Azerbaijan is hosting the fifth session of tourism ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
