Security: Pakistan has no objections to Daniel Pearl movie

Authorities in Pakistan have said they had no objections to the shooting of a film in Pakistan, about murdered US journalist Daniel Pearl.

Interior Secretary of Sindh Provincial Government Ghulam Mohammad Mohtaram told a news agency. "The government has not opposed the movie but formal permission is required to avoid security problems."

His statement appears to counter reports that authorities had barred filming of "A mighty heart", based on Mariane Pearl's book of the kidnapping and murder of her husband.

Zeenews.com reports that in July, Pakistani police detained members of the crew after they were caught wearing police uniform. They were released after they informed the authorities that they were shooting the movie, starring Angelina Jolie.
