Women's Issues: Women's group protest online lotteries

Members of the Mahilodaya Women's Federation have held a protest in Mysore, against what they describe as the growing menace of online lotteries.

They marched to the Deputy Commissioner's office in Mysore and submitted a memorandum in support of their demands.

The protesters allege that most of those who, "fell prey to online lottery," were either "daily-wage workers or those who barely earned enough to eke out a living through menial jobs."

The federation, which is a subsidiary of the Organisation for Development of Women (ODP), urged the Chief Minister to take steps to bring in a law banning lotteries.
