Bilateral Relations: India and South Africa strengthen ties

India's Minister of State for External Affairs, Anand Sharma, said that Prime Minister Manomhan Singh's visit to South Africa signifies the close relationship between the countries which has been elevated to a strategic partnership

Arriving in South Africa ahead of Singh's arrival he said a number of initiatives had been taken to broaden and deepen the engagement between the two countries - focusing on specific areas where the two can share their strengths to help other countries in Africa.

The Press Trust of India, reports that among the issues to be discussed between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President, Thabo Mbeki, on Monday in Pretoria, will be co-operation on the issue of reforms in the United Nations and the UN Security Council "to reflect the realities of the 21st century".

Since when has the United Nations been concerned with reality?
