Bloomberg's Heather Walsh reports that Chile's lawmakers are seeking to scrap a law that funnels 10 percent of revenue from its state-owned copper company to the armed forces.
"The system will probably transfer a record-breaking $1 billion this year from Codelco, the world's biggest copper producer, to military coffers after prices rose to a record, said Patricio Hales and Francisco Encina, members of the lower house national defense committee who want the law repealed. The panel is holding a hearing on the rule today in Santiago."
