A report by Myanmar's Ministry of National Planning and Development, reveals that foreign investment in Myanmar has hit its highest-ever total since it opened to outside investors in 1988.
Investment jumped to $6.07 billion in 2005-06 from US$158.3 million the previous year,according to the Ministry's latest statistical survey report.
Most investment comes from other members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, which also includes Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
China Post reports that "almost all of the past year's huge increase was accounted for by investments in the power sector by Thailand.
