International Development: UN stops food aid to Angola

The UN World Food Programme has suspended its distribution of food to more than 400,000 people in Angola, because of lack of funding.

Manuel Cristovao, a spokesperson WPF in Angola, said the agency currently has 17 tons of foodstuffs in storage, but does not have the means to distribute it.

The agency first appealed for international donor support to keep its activities in Angola alive in July, but received no reply.
