Authorities in Tajikistan have blocked access to several independent Internet sites ahead of a presidential election next month.An official at the communications ministry said the sites were blocked on the grounds that they threaten state information policy.
Among the blocked Internet sites are the regional news sites ferghana.ru and centrasia.org and the Tajik online newspapers tajikistantimes.ru and charogiruz.ru, the official said.
